Just Another Saturday

Cara and I are both tour geeks, so we ventured out to West Bridgewater to visit a maple syrup farm. We went to Matfield Maple Farm and took a tour before the season ended. This farm had llamas and one of them had an underbite. I thought he would make a good Pixar character. We got to taste the sap right out of the tree before it's made into syrup. It's watery, slightly sweet and has a really refreshing taste. I wanted a whole cup of it.

Last night Chad and I went out to 28 Degrees in the South End for his co-worker, Collette's, birthday party. I loved meeting everyone and found a fellow foodie friend. I wouldn't recommend this place though. The cocktails were subpar, the service was terrible, and the restrooms were down this off-the-way hallway where I don't think anyone would hear you scream.

Mollie's Wedding Bananza

Last weekend was full of festivities for Mollie & Josh's wedding. I was lucky enough to be a part of the bridal party and got to meet a really fantastic group of girls from all over the country. We all started out Thursday night for Mollie's bachelorette party. We began the night at Cuchi Cuchi, a retro Hollywood-themed restaurant. They had "tapas style" food and an amazing cocktail menu. We barraged Mollie with gifts and surprised her with a special cupcake party favor. I can't wait to go back.

After Cuchi Cuchi, we headed over to the Enormous Room - a bar/lounge in Central Square that is not so enormous, but very cozy. There was lots of drinks and dancing. As a side note, while waiting in line for the restroom, this super nice fellow let me go before him. I didn't even ask - he just must have known I was about to explode. I bought him a drink later as a thank you for being so kind.

Friday was a super full day. Mollie was a little under the weather from all of the festivities of the night before, so she stayed home while all of the bridesmaids spent an afternoon together. Mollie was very much missed. We started off with brunch at Trident and had manicures at Emerge after. Mollie's mom met us after the manis and guided us to our gift from Mollie. Oh - what a splendid gift it was! We all got to design our own handbags! There will never be a more generous bride than Mollie!

Later that evening was the rehearsal and dinner. All of the bridesmaids immediately formed a crush on the cute and funny English priest. I wish I had a picture to show everyone. The dinner later was at Sasso - a super nice Italian restaurant in the Back Bay.

Saturday was the big day. We got our hair done at James Joseph Salon and had a make-up artist from Melt come to Mollie's bridal suite at the Taj to do all of the bridesmaids' make-up. What a treat. I don't think I've ever been so pampered. Mollie was just the most stunning bride I've ever seen - REALLY! The service was beautiful and the reception at the Boston Public Library was incredible.

Hollywood Wife vs. Starter Wife

I recently watched the mini-series, The Starter Wife, and loved it. I have yet to get through the actually television series, but am hoping it lives up to the mini-series. While watching this show, I was making a mental list of the pros and cons of being a Hollywood mogul's wife vs. a starter wife.

Hollywood Wife
  • Pro - look great all the time
  • Con - am always hungry & have to keep up with the latest fitness craze
  • Pro - lots of "help" at your disposal: Yippee! No more dishes and vacuuming!
  • Con - must cater to mogul husband's every need: Do I really want to memorize who all of his "friends" are a la The Devil Wears Prada
  • Pro - Shopping: I can have all the David Yurman and Chanel my heart desires!
  • Con - I'd actually be expected to get Botox and chemical facial peels. Scary!
Starter Wife
  • Pro - I could eat all the cheese and chocolate I want
  • Con - I'd end up looking like one of those moms who never lost their baby weight
  • Pro - I'd have lots of time to "find myself"
  • Con - I no longer have the luxury of being able to go insane. Only the incredibly wealthy can afford that - so not fair!
  • Pro - I'd have a reason to start drinking at noon. Oh wait, Hollywood wives do that too.
  • Con - I'd still start drinking at noon.

Roller Derby

Last night Heather invited me to go to a roller derby bout. I don't know how many of you have ever been to a roller derby bout before, but you need to go to one if you can. It was ridiculous amounts of fun. We watched the Boston Massacre face off against the Maine Port Authorities. It was sort of a combination of sexy, rocker chick meets girl who'd kick your ass in bar. The outfits were really fun and I already have a favorite Boston Massacre team member - Sugar Hits. I'll definitely go again. In the video, Jammer - Sugar Hits - breaks through the jam.
